JAY-Z love

the ROC was in the building on March 6th at Izod Center in NJ. After being a hardcore Jay-Z fan since I’m 14 years old (circa 2000, the days of the release of The Dynasty: Roc La Familia), I finally went to my first Jay-Z concert and I was impressed, but left wanting more. After buying The Dynasty in 2000 (or rather, having my mom reluctantly buy it for me)  I was quickly told by my older friends that I was missing out on the “true gems”, those being the tracks off Reasonable Doubt. After buying Reasonable Doubt it was WITHOUT a doubt as good as it was hyped up to be. From the first track to the last, it oozes “Brooklyn” in a way only a true Brooklynite would really understand. It doesn’t matter whether you’re black, white, yellow, or red, this album is the definition of a hip-hop classic (in my opinion of course, but feel free to argue). Being a 24 year old Russian girl who came to this country when she was 3, it feels good to amaze people with knowing all the lyrics to every song on almost every Jay-Z album. Just goes to show you that music breaks all barriers.

As for the concert, some songs performed were:

can i live
where im from
can i get a..
big pimpin
u dont know
public service announcement
show me what you got
d.o.a.
99 problems
give it to me
jigga
jigga what
already home
so ambitious
dirt
hardknock life
diamonds are forever
aint no nigga

Great night, can’t wait to see what else he has in store.
