halloweenSo it’s that time again! The freeway for freaks; you know what I’m talking about, it’s HALLOWEEN! My favorite holiday by far for the simple reason being that ANYTHING GOES.. GO OUT OF YOUR HEAD, GO INSANE! Wheres the party & what are YOU dressing up as? I will be at Club Purgatorio… taken from their website it reads: Combining the energy and glamour of a world-class nightclub with the spectacle and illusion of the theater, Purgatorio will offer an interactive Halloween experience unlike anything seen before in New York nightlife. Adults 21 and over will be immersed in a multi-level world of macabre fantasy complete with interactive variety acts and installations, all set in a dynamic environment that is at once frightening, erotic and whimsical.

Playgrounds

My childhood memories have never faded (they rarely do  for the jaded)

I remember how it used to be (with you, mommy, & me)

We would gather around & you would string on your guitar (if i closed my eyes it would take me so far)

Into a place where the children would laugh & play (a playground on a sunny afternoon, in May)

I’m grown now & the path of life has taken its toll (seems to be some sadness left in my soul)

& though we speak, i feel a great distance (& as much as i try, theres no resistance)

What happened father, did i let you down? (you’ll regret the choices you made when im in my wedding gown)

You’ll yearn to string your guitar for me (like you did when we were a family)

& as much as it hurt to see you go that day (lord knows I’d given anything for you to stay)

I’ll still let you into my life again if you decide to be a part (of not only my life, but my heart)

Maybe one day my children can hear you on the guitar (& I’ll close my eyes again & it’ll take me far)

Into that place where the children would laugh & they would play

Like a playground on a sunny afternoon in Maypic

after a long while of NOT blogging due to a newly attained CRAZY schedule I have decided to return & blog about something that I feel is a very important thing to acknowledge and respect. 2:26 P.M. (PDT) on June 25, 2009 marks the death of a truly irreplaceable and incredibly talented individual none other than Michael Joseph Jackson. In the public eye for 40 some odd years as part of the Jackson 5 and a solo artist, Michael Jackson has touched the lives of many people through his music, his presence, and his humanitarian efforts. He was a singer, composer, dancer, and producer who was impossible to duplicate (although many have tried). Regardless of what some of the public may think of him in terms of his personal life MJ made a tremendous impact on our pop-culture (and on my life directly through his music).

My father was a musician (bass-guitarist) and he was part of a band back in the 70′s. Almost as soon as I was old enough to understand what music is the sounds of MJ were part of my everyday life because my father was an avid fan of his music. In turn, my father handed those feelings over to me which are still with me today. Growing up I remember putting together outfits and performing for my parents to the sounds of “Billie Jean” and “Thriller”. I was so obsessed with him and his music that I would kiss the poster of him above my bed every night (it was the one from the Thriller album art of him and the baby tiger). When I listen to his music to this day I am able to feel things that no other artist can make me feel (no exaggerations). I associate specific songs from different albums with various parts of my life, sometimes even specific events and moments. I have to say that I am truly saddened by this event.

MJ’s accomplishments will be difficult to match: he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice, 13 Grammy’s, as well as 13 number one singles and 750 million records sold. Michael’s impact on the rise of MTV should also be acknowledged, as he served an important role in the crossover from a white artist dominated channel to the acceptance and praise of a black artist on MTV. Besides holding a Guiness World Record for “Most Successful Entertainer of All Time,” Michael should also be recognized for his true humanitarian side. Besides the dozens of charities he donated money to, he set up the Heal The World Foundation in 1992. “Heal The Kids was set up to develop a campaign to help parents and adults around the world to educate them on the importance of reprioritizing their lives in order to bring children into the main focus in order to imbue them with the love and devotion which they so badly need and to stop the cycle of neglect.” In can be said that Michael lacked a childhood of his own which is prevalent through some of his music, many of his statements, and his life which was in the spotlight but also out of the spotlight. It can also be said that he did his best to contribute to children all over the world and his efforts will never be forgotten.

Have you seen my Childhood?
I’m searching for the world that I come from
‘Cause I’ve been looking around
In the lost and found of my heart…
No one understands me
They view it as such strange eccentricities…
‘Cause I keep kidding around
Like a child, but pardon me…

People say I’m not okay
‘Cause I love such elementary things…
It’s been my fate to compensate,
for the Childhood
I’ve never known…

Have you seen my Childhood?
I’m searching for that wonder in my youth
Like pirates in adventurous dreams,
Of conquest and kings on the throne…

Before you judge me, try hard to love me,
Look within your heart then ask,
Have you seen my Childhood?

People say I’m strange that way
‘Cause I love such elementary things,
It’s been my fate to compensate,
for the Childhood I’ve never known…

Have you seen my Childhood?
I’m searching for that wonder in my youth
Like fantastical stories to share
The dreams I would dare, watch me fly…

Before you judge me, try hard to love me.
The painful youth I’ve had

Have you seen my Childhood….michael_jackson2

I have only one wish for Michael now and that is that he finds his childhood in the skies above <3

PATIENCE is a VIRTUE…

Posted in what I'm thinking.. on May 23, 2009 by K A T R i N A

…but is it?

Although the origin of this widely used quote is unknown, we can break it down like this:

Patience is defined as good-natured tolerance of delay or incompetence.

Virtue is defined as the quality of doing what is right and avoiding what is wrong.

So, does that mean waiting for something to happen is right, and making it happen on your own is not?

What are your thoughts on this?… I am perplexed. patience

wondrous beauty
hanging delicately in the navy night sky
you change on us
but breathtaking you remain

Porn Star in Senate?

Posted in news on May 8, 2009 by K A T R i N A

Adult film star Stormy Daniels is considering to run for US Senate. According to Associate Press, “Daniels backs some issues common to many candidates, including bringing troops home sooner from Iraq and replacing the federal income tax with a national sales tax. Others are closer to her professional background, including pushing to remove child pornography from the Internet and keeping minors from viewing adult material.”

What do you think? How relevant should a person’s previous occupation be when it comes to running for a position in our government? Would you vote for her if given the chance? In my personal opinion, I think her background as an adult film star undermines her possible position as someone making serious decisions, but I don’t think it is solid ground to judge someone on. Plus check this out- she is challenging David Vitter to a debate (Remember him? The Louisiana Senator who was caught in the prostitution scandal who claims to be a “good Christian” with strong family values). To quote Stormy, “He ran for the Senate on a family values, anti-sex education platform. And he’s caught with prostitutes. That’s hypocritical. Call me what you will, but you can’t call me a hypocrite.”

This brings up another question: Who would you rather have in Senate? Someone who uses Christianity as a facade yet sins and asks for “forgiveness” or a person with no facades at all? Hmm…10
